Some Steps to Follow for Safety and The Optimal Use of Your Scented Candle

Step 1: Choose the location

Preferably choose a location away from drafts to allow your candle to burn as evenly as possible. For safety, find a location out of reach of children or pets.

Step: 2 Flame maintenance

After removing the cover, cut the wick about 1/4 inch from the wax to make sure you have a good sized flame. Ideally, use a drill bit or even scissors.

If the wick is too long, the flame will be too large and the candle will therefore burn more quickly. If the wick is too short, the flame will be small and could drown in the wax.

Step 3: Burn time

For optimal use, it is recommended to let your scented candle burn a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 4 hours at a time.

The minimum time will allow your candle to melt evenly to the edge and prevent the formation of a pit in the wax due to too short a burn time. The maximum burn time will be used to prevent the entire surface from hollowing out and liquefying.

Step: 4 Extinguish the candle well

Carefully blowing on the flame is probably the first method that comes to mind to extinguish your candle, but you should be careful of hot liquid wax splashes and smoke formation.

Another frequently used method is the snuffer (usually shaped like a small bell with a handle). This prevents wax projection and considerably reduces the formation of smoke.

If necessary, re-center the wick after turning it off.

Step 5: Solidification

Wait until the wax has completely solidified before repeating steps 1 to 4.
